Research/Interests:

I developed a keen interest in the outdoors from spending my free time outdoors as a kid, collecting insects and herps or learning to identify plants and birds in my backyard. In college after taking an Ornithology course, I became interested in not only the biology of birds, but the ecological processes that shaped species and their associate communities. Throughout my college education and post-graduation, I worked across the U.S. studying avian breeding ecology and behavior, including my M.Sc. where I studied the effects of habitat quality on Golden-winged Warbler nest and fledgling survival and post-fledgling movement in Northern Minnesota. I am particularly interested in research that combines both avian conservation and ecology as well as multiple land-use (i.e. working lands). I am excited to be applying my skills and experience to San Clemente Island in order study and conserve the San Clemente Loggerhead Shrike. In my free time I enjoy running, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, birding, playing cello, and cooking.
