Research/ Career Interests

I am a wildlife ecologist with a passion for investigating questions related to wildlife conservation and management.

After graduating with a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Cal Poly SLO in 2020, I started my research career as an intern for the Pinniped Lab at UC Santa Cruz, where I collaborated with researchers, animal trainers, and resident seals and sea lions to study pinniped sensory systems and Arctic seal physiology.

I pivoted from ecophysiology to ecology as a graduate student at CSU Long Beach, where I completed my master’s thesis on the spatial and temporal effects of wildfire disturbance on California mammal communities.

During my time at CSULB, I also had the pleasure of contributing to additional research projects investigating the impacts of anthropogenic factors on wildlife, from urbanization, to agriculture, to drought, all the while developing a specific interest in research that examines the relationship between people and ecosystems, and how we can be more responsible ecosystem engineers.

I am excited to join Institute for Wildlife Studies as a Field Biologist to continue their long-time work as stewards of the Channel Islands Bald Eagle population.
